Sewing-machine repair guide
Understand which faults may be simple to check safely, when servicing is appropriate, and what to tell the specialist before you bring in a machine or overlocker.
Not sure how to arrange a repair, what a listing means, or what to do when nobody nearby appears? Start here. Simply Nearby helps you compare practical ways to get equipment fixed, but does not arrange the repair itself.

Check common problems safely, understand brand and model restrictions, and compare hand-in, collection and postal repairs.
A postcode search that finds no exact match is not the end of the road. See how to widen the radius, use another repair method or contact a verified specialist farther afield.
Repair workshop: the source explicitly identifies a place where repairs take place. Some workshops operate by appointment.
Drop-off / hand-in: the business accepts equipment at that location. A partner shop may only collect machines for another repair workshop.
Contact to arrange: a provider advertises repairs, but a public counter or exact collection procedure has not been confirmed. Do not turn up unannounced.
Mobile technician: a repairer advertises attending a customer's premises to carry out repair work. A driver collecting an appliance is not a visiting technician.
Collection and return: the machine travels to the repairer; the exact collection area and charges need checking.
Postal / courier repair: a sourced service accepts eligible equipment by post; packing, insurance and eligibility must be agreed with the provider.
Choose one repair category and enter your full Great Britain postcode if you have it. The first part, such as TN11, also works but uses an estimate from that district's centre.
Start with a 25-mile radius. If no matching local service is shown, our results page offers evidence-backed ways to extend the distance, adjust the repair method and investigate collection or postal repairs.
The yellow highlight marks the nearest listed eligible drop-off, not the best-rated business. A separately marked nearest repair workshop is based only on documented on-site repair evidence. Contact any provider before travelling.
Have the brand and model number to hand. Explain the fault, when it started, any error codes and whether the appliance is under warranty.
Ask whether your exact model is accepted, whether diagnosis has a charge, what happens if the work is uneconomical, the anticipated timescale, any warranty on repairs and whether you must book a drop-off or collection.
We do not take bookings, make recommendations based on payment or guarantee that any particular company is accepting jobs today. If a listing is missing or wrong, tell us using the correction link below.
If you operate a relevant repair business or know an independently sourced service we have overlooked, you can request a free listing or correction.
